I think with the groundhog day someone said...we need a holiday..someone think of an animal that can stop hibernating and tell us when winter is going to be over. After 3 people got mauled by bears and another guy in Iowa got sprayed by a skunk they finally said. Groundhogs, everyone loves groundhogs.
